Fatima, a self-assured young Muslim woman, fled Egypt with her parents a few years ago and successfully integrated into Austrian society. She chose to wear the headscarf, the hijab, as did her friends, who ironically and defiantly call themselves "Jabbers." However, after an anti-Muslim incident at her school, her parents transferred the reluctant Fatima to another school.
There, she's the only "Jabber": The pitying tolerance and well-intentioned, but actually intrusive, openness with which people treat her makes Fatima painfully aware of her otherness, even though she handles projections and stereotypes with composure. Jonas, her classmate, soon becomes acquainted with Fatima's quick wit. The boy seems to attract trouble and makes few friends with his humor, which isn't always popular. But after initial conflicts, a connection begins to emerge. Jonas allows Fatima a glimpse behind his cool facade and tells her about his family – which, due to his father's violence, is no longer a family. A tentative love story develops between the two teenagers, threatened on several occasions: Jonas's jealous ex-girlfriend and Fatima's parents on the one hand, and Fatima's anxieties and Jonas's impulsiveness on the other – the dogma of the incompatibility of cultures seems insurmountable. But however problematic the differences are, they are not insurmountable for Fatima and Jonas.

Fröhliche Bescherung (2023)
Directed by Johanna Rieger
Cecilie is looking forward to a quiet Christmas with her almost 30-year-old daughter Clara. Clara longs for a Christmas like the ones she had as a child. Cäcilie has promised to invite her father as well, even though they have been divorced for a long time. However, she keeps it a secret that he has declined the invitation.
Everything spirals out of control when not only the devoutly Catholic, uninvited grandmother shows up at the door, but also Gerd, Clara's boyfriend, whom she has just broken up with. Then, when Cäcilie invites the pizza delivery guy, Mohamed, to spend Christmas Eve with them, a Christmas miracle suddenly occurs. It's love at first sight between Clara and Mohamed.
A mixture of conversation piece and sitcom.
With its witty twists, polished dialogue full of charm, and brilliant, romantic, sophisticated, and touchingly profound storytelling, this Christmas comedy is a delightful pre-Christmas treat. The perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.
